Where the fundamentals of education meet the art of entertainment!
Our 2022 Production Season marked 25 years of remarkable and award-winning productions at Carolina Forest. We are committed to providing both quality and opportunity for the students of CFHS.
We offer a variety of theatre courses ranging from Theatre 1 through Honors Theatre, Musical Theatre, and Technical Theatre. In addition to our course offerings, we offer a full-length fall play, an award-winning competition group, and an annual highly praised spring musical. We had over eighty exceptional students audition for our musical, R+H Cinderella, this year, and our program has been successful at theatre competitions throughout the state. Our production of, Wit!, won third place overall at SETA this year, with our student, Caroline Floyd, winning best actor, and two other actors from CFHS selected for the all-star cast. From our technical department, we took home the award for the best lighting and we were the overall winner of tech olympics. This year we took home an overall excellent rating at the Palmetto Dramatic Association with two of our students selected to their all-star cast.
CFHS has an active chapter of the International Thespian Society, which is not only known for its outstanding performance but also its dedication to school and community service. One event that we are active with is a Kids Food Drive for the Salvation each October. Another community organization that we work closely with is the Literary Council. Each February our theatre students write and perform a murder mystery dinner theatre to help raise funding for their program. Next month we will be performing Steel Magnolias at a local middle school as part of a fundraiser for education.
Looking to the future, we are making great strides for growth and extended performance opportunities. Our performance classes began a school-wide theatre arts showcase, Commedia, this year to exhibit the talents of our students. We hope to make this festival a bi-annual event for our students. Our goal is to increase outreach efforts to the local elementary and middle schools and to continue to provide the needed opportunities to fuel the passion of our student performers.
