EXPERIENCE/ SKILLS

Kraig McBroom began his career working with the infamous Fred Waring, and is now in his 49th year teaching vocal music.  The last twenty-nine years have been at Carolina Forest High School.

His professional career boasts an extensive slate of accomplishments.  His roles as musical director include:  Celebrate America and Big Band Swing  -- both shows based in Myrtle Beach featuring Emmy Award winning entertainer,  Steve Gatlin; the Grand Strand’s premier vocal ensemble, Vocal Edition; the Grand Strand’s longest running show, High Steppin’ Country at Lakewood Camping Resort; and several show choirs at the Carolina Forest Performing Arts Academy.

McBroom has done work for the North Carolina Theatre, the Atlanta Theatre Company, the Tennessee Renaissance Center, Eric Krebs Theatrical, Sun Coast Productions and Hilltop Productions.  He frequently serves as an adjudicator for choral competitions across the country and most recently has worked to develop and direct Horry County School District’s newest production, Waves of the Future, a fundraiser for the Chicora Rotary Club.

McBroom’s high school choirs have won numerous awards, both in classical and show choir competitions, including five consecutive National Championships at Showstoppers National Show Choir Invitational in Chicago/Orlando.  Mr. McBroom’s former students can be seen performing on Broadway stages, Disney theme parks, cruise chips and opera houses in Europe.  He is proud to teach life lessons through music every single day and is excited to be preparing the next generation of entertainers.
